I made a huge post to here earlier, and posted it, but it is not there. This really upsets me as I am really sick and put a lot into my post and it is gone!

Coolness...

My Secret Pal just revealed a few things she likes in a blog I don't think she knows I know about! How freaking cool. I am so making a special order for her!
Also, she is going away, I need to have a special thing done for her while she is there. She is in the SCA and I may have to ask a favor of someone going to Birka, but it should be cool.

Also, I have met a few new folks on LJ who are just amazing people.

I have been fairly busy with classes starting soon (Tuesday, but my first class is on Wednesday). I am partly done with my Internation Scarf exchange scarf, and I got mine today. WOW, can I just say WOW!
I will get pics of it tomorrow and properly thank the loverly loverly lady in the UK who made it for me. It is the perfect color and just soft and amazing!
SQUEEE!!!! OK, I will stop that now!

It really is cool though...

I am working on a ton of Katamari stitch markers. I am not as big a geek about it as some people I know and love, but I really do love that game! I should make some of them tomorrow.

I really need to get busy about posting pics to my journal. I am horrible about that. Here I am really bad, especially since it is not as easy to post here as LJ.

So, anyway....tomorrow I am going to tackle my crazy craft room (yeah one day) from being a storage pile/dining room. It is so bad right now, you can barely get around the tabel. It just needs a day of work and maybe 2 runs to store stuff at my parents. Not that that much is going, just that the two things I want to bring there are bulky and each require a trip int he tiny saturn!

Ok, I am off to bed so I can get up, eat brekkies and make a pot of cafe to get me to my job. I refuse to do anything other then shower and dress myself and the Juju, oh and of course feed her at appropriate times until that room is DONE.

I will also refuse to work on any craft project until it is done, and I have about 100 stitch marker, a scarf and a few other randomness to be done by Monday!

I cannot forget to mail off my first SP gift, a bunch of beautifully dyed roving since she is a fellow spinner (I say fellow because I own a wheel and just learned how to, but she spins, I have a wheel I won;t use until the room of dining doom is complete), some yummy candy, stitch markers I made and some Japanes candy I just got from a sweety in Japan! Kozika is a sweet woman in Japan who I met from my MoBlog (which is so much fun) and she sent us a package of amazing candy from there, esp KitKats, which I LOVE unusual ones (I still have green tea ones, so I may send her one of those as well)...

Ok, this time I am really going...have a great night and a wonderful weekend and hoepfully next post will be to say my room is done and should be more frequent!

Updating!!

Ok, so the SP7 has me so excited.
Today is the official start of it, and I am on my way out the door to go and get some stuff for my SP.
You know how things can sometimes just come together? Well my Hostess could not have picked a better person for me to hook up with spoilongs like none other!

I have some of her box ready to go, and the rest I need to get at a special place in the mall. We have this cool shop, well I don't want to say too much, but I just wish I could visit Japan for one day if this is the stuff they sell everywhere there!

I am working on a think thick scarf right now, as in size 19 needles make it look TIGHT!
It is really thick.

I am also workingon my International Scarf Exchange. It is spun, dyed and ready to be knitted. I am going with a really big and loose garter stitch to make the colors and fiber be the focal point. I initially tried to work a pattern, but both got lost in each other...
I think this will work better.

It is so soft and bulky...I want to keep it! lol....

anyway, I am off, I have errands to run and a house to clean!

Lots of blathering on on a nasty day

I am getting the most amazing special delivery from Japan soon! A package of Cherry flavored KitKats from a woman I have met on moblog.

She is so sweet and I am so excted, so now I am working on getting her a box of US stuff to travel over the seas to her!

It has a secondary meaning because her cat is named Cherry, and he is, quite possibly, the most camera friendly cat EVER!

She photographs him all the time, and he is so expressive.
Also, D asked me where I put the manila folders since the big new desk move. I thought I found them and opened a folder box and what do I find? MY ADDRESS BOOK!

I have been looking for it for a few years now. I always knew it was around but never knew where. Problem solved as the other contents of the box were thank you cards from the wedding and cards given to us for the wedding. I knew that was when I last saw them, but no clue why I put them all in a manilla folder box!

Anyway, sadly so many addresses have changed, but many I have needed have not, so I see my new weekend project!

Ok I have a hair appt and I have to plan a time to hit NYC to pick up the Burberry bag from being repaired. Crap speaking of purses, I need to head to Morristown to drop off my two Coach Suedes that need to be cleaned desperately.

Oh and it looks like a shite day...cold, misting heavily and a real chill to it. Nasty, does not feel like mid-afternoon...

busy busy mama...

Well I did it...klast night I registered www.creativemuffin.com and www.melissaamy.com

I have been busy, making a bunch of stitch markers and knitting a bit, but mainly focusing on the embroidery.
I need to pick up some sulky stick on tear off stabilizer to work on the iffy fabrics more....

I also need to stop and focus on some stuff before worrying about the hosting, this way the finances don't get wasted on a site that says, hang on under construction, and only launch once we are really ready to go live with lotrs of stock...

Also need to find a great blogging template for my personal site and a designer willing to hook a gal up.

The business cards are being taken care of, just need the logo or similar logo in adobe for the designer to hook that up for me!

Oh this is getting exciting, but I rather take the time to do it right then rush and never be truly ever caught up...

Secret Pal 7 Questions!!! Here we go!!!

Hello Pal! Thank you for the e card!

I am now posting my questions for you! I cannot wait to see how things go as I really think this one is going to be the best!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand?

I am a totally yarn snob. I am apologetic for it, but I personally prefer funky, handmade yarns, far from anything sold in stores. I love slubby, nubby, handspun yarns, the thicker the better....and nothing furry!! Mohair/angra is ok, but nothing that looks like they had to slay a Muppet to make it!

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

I am a new spinner. I just got a wheel a few months ago, but time was at such a premium recently I had to put it away....I do look forward to making yarn soon though!
I recently learned to crochet, but I am not really a big fan. I want to truly master knitting and spinning first.

3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Well, I tend to use really big needles, liek I own two sets smaller then 10 and that is 10 and a pair of 9's. I have yet to actually knit on them! I use really big needles a lot, the bigger the better. 11, 13, 15, 19 are my favorites, so as you may understand, I have no needle holders big enough, so I stuff them all in a drawer or a knitting bag.

4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I will say I am intermediate. While I can follow patterns and intricate stuff to be advanced, but I don't care to do that kind of stuff for now. Mainly I hate to follow intricate patterns because I dont have the time and I like to be able to pick it up when stressed and not stress over the design (if ya know what I mean). Right know the process of knitting is my relaxation, mastering things I have practiced and learned, while not having to focus too heavily on a pattern, but just meditate on my motions, or so I think of it as!

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

Yes I do! I posted it on the right side in a link, but my lists are insane! I am scattered by interests of many things and my short term attn span makes me involoved in many things or study many things and hope back and forth, so I have a ton of crazy stuff on my lists!

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

Oh, and again, I am a total snob here, I really like Prada perfume. I like citusy scents, but my skin is kind of sensitive, so I ask for no body or bath products. While I love them, they make me dry and itchy! As for the perfume, well Parada and one Chanel are the only I wear, as many others give me headaches, so if I have a rich pal, hey, I love Prada, but kidding!!! I ask for nothing in the perfume or body product way, but thanks for asking, lol!!!

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

I do, but I am on a diet! I just recently joined a brand new Gold's Gym here in town (shoot as of today it is being inspected!), so instead of candy, can you take that money you would have spent on me for it and buy canned goods to be donated, or if you already have candy, donate that! (that killed me to write, but I feel better knowing I will lose weight for it!)

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

Gah, I currently own all the Sublime Stitching patterns. I embroider a lot! I make jewlery, stitch markers...I love to learn new craft stuff, especially since I am working on getting my own website up and running selling my handmade creations. I make soaps, lip balms...I try to keep everything as organic as possible and natural as possible.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I have an iPod. 40 gig of memory and I have 30 gig left to fill! I love many types of music. Everything from Opera, to rap to you name it. Seriously, I am open to everything except HATE music. Even in foreign languages! I keep an open mind about a lot. Personally, I am tech unsaavy, so no idea what mp3 means. You can make me a cd if you have cool music you love that you think I should hear....I am always open to it. My car and both puters play cds! and I can use itunes, that is about as much as I know!

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?

I cannot stand sickly pastels or neons, or overly bright primary colors.
I love earthy tones, deep greens, blues, ambers and so on....I love fall shades, shoot we were married in the fall so our pictures would look great and I could carry a beautiful fall colored themed bouqet! SO I guess autumn colors are my favorite pallet!

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I am married to a great guy, D, who I love so much it is sickening, seriously...it makes me sick too! We have a 5 year old girl, Juju, who is a true girly girl, like her momma can sometimes be. We also have 2 cats (both abandoned by folks, but now in our loving home! The one was almost starved to death when she found me outside one day in November) We also have one mini hampster, and 5 huge fish!

12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

Humm, I wear mittens and scarves...hats too, but ponchos not really. Though I do love me some HUGE shawls! Triangle shawls, plain and oversized, no fancy lace or stuff...nice to cuddle into! I do have big hands though, really long palms and fingers, then again I am 5'10", with size 11 narrow feet, but with big cankles (yeah nasty calf ankles, I look like a cabbage patch kid and am overly sensitive about them! So there...)

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

Yummy yummy one of a kind handmade yarns. I love them soft and funky and nubbly and handmade thick! I like them to be at least 120 yards or more so I can make something. One of the things that bugs me about handmades is how short they are. You can barely make on tiny project with them and they one of a kind, so you cannot get more. So I always try to get at least 120 yards....I am not really digging too many mass production yarns right now, I have been supporting the small time handspinning folks who are trying to make a living doing the thing they love!

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

the synthetic stuff, you know the type, you touch it and your body yells NOOOOOO, because it feels so, well, icky!

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Handmade yarns....and big needles!

17. What are you knitting right now?

a HUGE scarf. I mean hug...the yarn is 1 WPI and the needles are 19's, but they are feeling too small, so I may pull it and go up higher on the needles.....I am mixing up the stitches garter, drop, purl...I want it to look like it was made by many different folks over years of wear. I know, i have such an artistic vision for my fiber, but it will probably look like shite!

18. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Of course!!! Anything someone puts their heart into or hands into to make for me, well that is the best gift of all, reguardless of what it even may be, the idea they MADE it for me means more then I can ever say...

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

Sad to say, I have never used circulars....maybe one day, but not just yet!

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Bamboo, sarina, sandal, birch...I love wood needles, soemthing so natural and real about using them....plastic and aluminum just never feel right to me. I loke the idea of knitting with wood...maybe now I should start grunting and dancing around the fire!!!

21. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

I wish! One day I will break down and buy one, just I never think about it when I have the free cash, or I never have the free cash when I think about it or see it! Figures, huh? That is Murphy for ya!

22. How did you learn to knit?

I am totally self taught. I recently asked my mom to teach me a few things, but I learned by seeing soemone doing it, I boguht the stuff and applied what I had spied a stranger doing...that is it. I cannot read how to do it, tried and broke down in tears because I struggle with stuff like that, I need to see it and reading it (even with a 3.8 gpa) cannot make me understand it...I am a dork, I know..

23. How old is your oldest UFO?

I don't have any. I HAVE to finish one before going on to the next. I have no idea how these gals can run multi projects. Well I guess I can because I can read and do a gazillion things at one time, BUT with craft projects I have to finish one before starting the next, or else I know none will ever get done. With school work, I have to have a TV on, be doing three things at once whle my daughter bugs me in order to get work done. But I cannot stand to have unfinished projects, so in order to reward myself with a new item, I must finish the one I am on!

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

I love animals, the sillier the better, but really I am an animal lover.

25. What is your favorite holiday?

This is hard...I love Christmas and Thanksgiving because my whole HUGE family is able to get together and be a family. I do love the day my dauther was born, so I suppose that truly is my favorite holiday (all be it a personal one for us!)

26. Is there anything that you collect?

I love vintage stuff. By vintage I mean the 1950's and earlier....I collect antiques based on my town or college (Centenary College in NJ) I love the sillyness of the 50's, the rugged beauty of necessity of the 40's, the 20-30's sheer elegance in Deco...I love vintage bar items, you know the chic stuff that made the 50's the icons that they are now...that kind of stuff, and I go earlier as well, 1800's and earlier and earlier....I guess I just love old stuff, but the mid 60's on really offer me nothing, esp the 70's, 80's, GAH I lived through those, I don;t want to go back! I also collect designer stuff (vintage and recent pieces, Jimmy Choo's, Coach, LV...I look to collect pieces...I look at it like I am a not so kip version of Carrie from Sex and the City. I really do look to designers for pieces to add to my collections and such)

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None, as of now. I am not trying to get any because I have too much going on and know they would be neglected, sadly...

28. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on?

Not really. I have quite a few I just never get the time to do them, or I try to create my own funky stuff....
I know I will use them as they are in my library, but just not now. I am having a good time kind of making up my own ones as I go...though I do have a few patterns I would not mind owning in the side bar on the right, but they are not dying to have stuff!

29. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Not as of now...at least none I can think of, but then again if I need to learn them, how would I know what to ask for! LOL!!!

30. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Not right now, if my mom had her way I would, but for now I just KNOW I don't have the patience for it. My feet, I am size 11 narrow with HUGE ankles.

31. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

My birthday is February 28th, 1974....Yeah I will be 32 soon and I am ok with it...no idea why folks freak out about their age, but then again no one ever believes me when I tell them my age...they swear I am lying to them and being a full time college student doesn't help convince them either!

There you go pal...Hope I didn't bore you, but I am rather long winded! I look forward to hearing from you soon...as I said I love the card!

I know, I am being naughty, but school is really crunching in on my crafty time this week and what with D finally coming home tomorrow and a MAJOR presentation done as a group (I am in charge of the whole thing and had two of the 6 of us away unti TONIGHT) it has been really hard.

I am working really hard on keeping it all together, BUT this weekend there WILL be knitty things going on.
I have coordinated the 5 stitch marker swap groups, got each 6 in baggies with all their parts, this weekend all I have to do is get the pliers and twistem up, then ship them out!

That is about all I am going to try to do this weekend!
Since the husband is finally home after being away for 32 days, I seem to have no secret pal, school being totally insane with the sheer volume of homework I need to do on a regular basis, AND having the child with me all the time.
Yikes!
I promise I will do craftyness this weekend, why? Because I NEED to! Plus next weeks school load is lighter, so it won't be so bad.

Now back to my homework and coordinating this presentation tomorrow and finish some statistics for sociological research AND finsih my writing assignment for Modern World.
Off to cut cat puke off my texkbok so I can read for tomorrow (hey it is better then rebuying another 80 dollar text!)

I promise blog, you and me, jsut you and me and some crafts soon...
